Concept: I have been playing with the concept since the previous Project Rooftop Contest: Wolverine Looking Sharp [link]
The man undertaking the mantle of Captain America is Steve Roger's former sidekick, Bucky Barnes.
Possible scenario is when Steve once again be comes the Captain America a public figure. Rather then letting Bucky be left on the side bench, a shadow of Steve, S.H.I.E.L.D enlist him in for the country's wetwork. Do things and go where where Steve can't do or go. Bucky becomes a mirror image of Steve. Steve the Light, Bucky the Shadow. When the 2 of them takes up the mantle of Captain America, Captain America's presence can be felt everywhere.
The costume is a more modern version compared to what Steve used to wear. A sleeker, darker, meaner, lighter and slightly shinier looking bodysuit. The darker costume will also aid him in the inflitration covert mission And also to reflect his darker past. The sheen on costume compliment Bucky's cybernetic metallic arm. But not to the extend of been too shiny like the current costume he is wearing.
The red stripes used on the costume gives him a meaner and more dangerous look. They will glow when Bucky activates his Energy Shield.
The red star on his left shoulder is a reminder of his past history with the Soviet. Although initially have been thinking of giving it a white star instead but it could become an overkill.
The metallic band on his left arm(right beneath the Red Star) is the army insigina: "captain". I have been wondering where is Captain America's rank on the costume.
Energy Shield VS Vibranium-steel Alloy Shield I figured its a once Steve resume the costume he will take back the Vibranium-steel alloy shield. And the fact that one of Bucky's arm is cybernetic, I decided to give Bucky a Energy-base shield which can be conjured at will and transform the energy into any form of Energy-base weapon he wants. Similar to the Energy shield that Steve was using briefly back when his shield was destoryed.
The shield-like device will open up upon activation of the Energy shield. The device is an add-on which can be replaced.
The Cybernetic system that Bucky is using could be proved by Stark Industry. Kind of like Tony Stark's Life support system. However Bucky's life is not dependency on this system. It only act as a device to draw energy from him and converts it into usable energy. Making him into a human battery that can power up his Energy-base weaapons. The Cybernetic arm is able to shoot out concentrated offensive Energy projectiles to cover a longer distance compared to the Energy Shield.
Bucky is also armed with 2 Energy-base knifes located on his backpack's straps. Comes in rather handy in case his Energy-based shield generating device gets damage.
The backpack of his not only holds his equipments he need for his mission. It act as an amplifier to further amp up his Energy power level.
Green Pouch VS Black Pouch Visually Green pouch might be more interesting. Suggesting a more military feel. However the Black pouch give it a meaner, stealthier look. A rather tough call of which look better. What your call?
I would argue that gray-and-green would make more sense for the pouches and knife sheaths, like jungle camouflage and urban camouflage mixed together. At the very least, you'd have your cake and eat it, too, in a manner of speaking. Aside from that, I generally like how you put this redesign together and I particularly like the photon shield you gave him, especially since it's built into his arm. Awesome work, man.
also, I'd switch the red star to the cybernetc arm, and the SHIELD logo to the uniform sleeve
